PATTI WALTZ
Singer-Songwriter, Illustrator & Essayist

-About-
Patti Waltz is an emerging singer-songwriter whose current work weaves together her life’s focus: music, illustration, and activism through education. Her lyric-driven songs are intricately crafted with fresh honesty, sometimes playful, sometimes PUNchy, but always thought provoking. Having grown up in the 1960s, Patti developed an appreciation for protest music and for musicians who reveled in expressing their own unique voice. Her originals are rooted in folk and folk rock. Her influences range from the social commentary of Jacques Brel to old-time fiddle tunes deeply rooted in American history.
Patti attended the Cleveland Institute of Art for three years and finished her BFA at Ohio State University in painting with a minor in film and printmaking. Illustration has always been a part of her life. But at the age of 36 she reached a monumental milestone. She bought a banjo, and her life was never the same since. Her musical prowess expanded to include guitar, songwriting, and old-time fiddle. Again, her artistic endeavors took a turn.
In the wake of George Floyd’s murder, and with democracy teetering on a precipice, she put down the fiddle and submerged herself into songwriting. The results of her creative efforts have culminated into a comprehensive CD project entitled, Reflecting on America. As an artist, Patti Waltz holds up the mirror, reflecting society back on itself, to gaze into where we have been, to question who we are, in hopes that we may rise up and reap the rewards of our greatest potential. Reflecting on America will be released in 2027.
Societies never know it, but the war of an artist with his society is a lover’s war,
and he does, at his best, what lovers do, which is to reveal the beloved to himself and,
with that revelation, to make freedom real.

Knowledge will forever govern ignorance:
And a people who mean to be their own Governors,
must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives.
